Monday Moods is a weekly bookish meme created and hosted by Unwrapping Words (aka, me!). The premise is simple: every week, there’s a new ‘mood’, ranging from tropes to genres or actual moods (happy, sad, etc). On a Monday, feel free to post about books on your TBR, books you’d recommend, or a mix – whatever you like – that fits the ‘mood’ prompt. And of course, you can use your own if you’re not fussed on a particular one!
2026 is shaping up to be pretty exciting for books, isn’t it? Saying that, I think I’m feeling a little spoiled – there’s always so many great books coming out, and I don’t have time to read them all, but the choices are incredible ! As we’re still early in the year, it felt like a fitting time to spotlight some of the books releasing over the next few months that I’m excited to read.
This Week, I’m in the Mood For…
2026 Releases
Nine Goblins
T. Kingfisher

Genre: Fantasy
Age: Adult
Format: ebook
Expected Publication: January 20th, 2026 (Originally Published October 27th, 2013)
I Want to Read This Because I’ve really enjoyed Kingfisher’s work so far, and I’m excited to see something different, though this is actually a rerelease of an older work. This sounds like it could be a lot of fun, too, mixing fantasy with humour, and that cover really reminds me of the Discworld series.
She Made Herself a Monster
Anna Kovatcheva

Genre: Gothic Horror
Age: Adult
Format: ebook
Expected Publication: February 10th, 2026
I Want to Read This Because I really like gothic horror, and especially when it tackles something different. This one absolutely promises that, set in 19th Century Bulgaria, and inspired by Slavic folklore.
How (Not) to Conjure a Boyfriend
Jordon Greene

Genre: Paranormal Romance
Age: Young Adult
Format: ebook
Expected Publication: March 10th, 2026
I Want to Read This Because it sounds queer and sweet and fun! And inspired by While You Were Sleeping.
A Visitation of Spirits
Randall Kenan

Genre: Fantasy
Age: Adult
Format: ebook
Expected Publication: February 5th, 2026 (Originally Published 1989)
I Want to Read This Because this is another rerelease, and the kind of book I think it’s so important gets rereleases like this! Queer Black fiction originally published the year I was born – we absolutely don’t want to lose these kinds of stories, so it’s good to see publishers doing the work to bring out new editions of books like this. I really want to read more older queer fiction, too, so I’m extra excited for this.
Witch Season
Julia Bianco

Genre: Urban Fantasy/Paranormal Romance
Age: Adult
Format: ebook
Expected Publication: June 30th, 2026
I Want to Read This Because I love everything about this! Witches, enemies/rivals to lovers, powerful threats meaning they have to work together…I’m so excited!
Are any of these on your TBR? Any 2026 releases (or rereleases) you’re particularly looking forward to? As always, if you have recommendations for me based on the above, feel free to throw them my way!
