Monday Moods: Christmas! (In July)

Monday Moods is a weekly bookish meme created and hosted by Unwrapping Words (aka, me!). The premise is simple: every week, there’s a new ‘mood’, ranging from tropes to genres or actual moods (happy, sad, etc). On a Monday, feel free to post about books on your TBR, books you’d recommend, or a mix – whatever you like – that fits the ‘mood’ prompt. And of course, you can use your own if you’re not fussed on a particular one!

Yes! In some attempt to inject cooling thoughts into my head among this year’s heatwave(s), this week’s Monday Moods is all about Christmas! I actually might try and read – and possibly watch! – stuff set at Christmas this month, maybe trick my brain into thinking it’s colder than it actually is. At this point, anything is worth a shot!

This Week, I’m in the Mood For…
Christmas! (In July)

Nutcracker with Benefits
Liz Alden

Genre: Contemporary Romance
Age: Adult
Format: ebook
Published: 18th October, 2022

I Want to Read This Because it just sounds fun! It’s a short book too at only 154 pages on the Kindle, so I might be reaching for this one if the heat shoots up again. Though saying that, it is a steamy holiday romance, so maybe it won’t cool me down as much as I’d like!

A Merry Little Meet Cute
Julie Murphy, Sierra Simone

Genre: Contemporary Romance
Age: Adult
Format: ebook
Published: 20th September, 2022

I Want to Read This Because check out the winter vibes on the cover alone! Also, this one sounds really funny, as an adult film star is semi-accidentally cast as a lead in a family-friendly Christmas movie. I think with the setting and the general vibes of this book, it’ll be enough to make me feel like I’m surrounded by snow, instead of melting in the heat.

A Flight to Love
Frankie Fyre

Genre: Contemporary Romance
Age: Adult
Format: ebook
Published: 1st December, 2022

I Want to Read This Because sapphic second chance holiday romance! Yes, please! It promises it’ll “keep you plenty warm” but I’m hoping the Christmas vibes will outweigh that. It’s another short one, too, so definitely one I could possibly pick up during July.

Keeping a Christmas Promise
Jo Thomas

Genre: Contemporary Romance
Age: Adult
Format: ebook
Published: 20th September, 2022

I Want to Read This Because this one keeps popping up on lists like this, yet somehow I never quite get around to it in the festive season! Maybe Christmas in July is the perfect time, or I’ll have to make an extra effort to get to this closer to December.

Snow on the Range
Sofia Aves

Genre: Romantic Suspense
Age: Adult
Format: ebook
Published: 1st December, 2020

I Want to Read This Because it’s an interesting premise and setting, it’s book 1 in a series, and set along the Montana border into Canada at Christmas, I have no doubt this will cool me down!

That should be plenty to keep me feeling at least a little cooler when we get hit with the next heatwave! Are you planning on reading any Christmas books during July? Do you keep festive and winter themed books for the appropriate season, or do you read them throughout the year?
