A Note About Monday Moods

Monday Moods has been on a bit of a hiatus through August, as I try to catch up with blog posts while also just enjoying spending time with friends and family over summer (seriously, why does August always end up so…social?). It has made me consider the future of Monday Moods and how to do it going forward.

I started doing Monday Moods when #5OnMyTBR stopped updating – a bookish blog meme that I really, really enjoyed. I wanted to make it as flexible as possible for others to join in and though I did look into finding some way for people to add their posts, I never quite worked that bit out!

With my lack of social media posts (and social media is not something I am good at keeping up with) and the increase of pressures in my day job (not a bad thing – just more responsibility and more to do in general) it never really seemed to catch on, or at least I wasn’t and am not aware of others taking part in it. In itself, this is absolutely fine – I only set out to do something for me and my blog to take the place of #5OnMyTBR, and if other people enjoyed it, great! That would have been a bonus. But it’s really hard to keep up motivation with everything else going on, and I think in a lot of ways makes it easier to just stop.

So yeah – for now, Monday Moods is on an indefinite hiatus. Whether or not I bring it back in the future, I don’t know. Partly I want to clear my own mental space and partly I felt pressure (only from myself) to make sure there was always a post to go alongside it, because if I’m hosting, well, I kind of have to! I don’t mean any of this to come across as ‘woe is me’. None of this is external stuff, and it’s all stuff I’ve put on myself, I just didn’t want to drop it completely without saying something.

Again, it may come back, but it’s a case of “we’ll see”. I was getting to the point where I was really struggling to think up prompts, especially ones that could fit easily into books, without reusing past ones. But if it’s something you’d like to start picking up or if you took part in it and think you really will miss it, please do let me know in the comments, Or if you have suggestions for future prompts and I can maybe put them up on the page as suggestions for any time rather than specific dates, etc. In the meantime, as I ease back into writing and publishing posts, I’ll likely move my Fantasy with Friends posts to Mondays to match their schedule, keeping LTB for Fridays when they have prompts and leaving that space the rest of the time. We’ll see.
