So my attempts at going through the 2022 Goodreads Most Popular Horror List initially started in Blogtober, and carried on into this year’s Blogtober, but I really want to try and finish the list, otherwise I’ll be doing this as a Blogtober post for years. So, it’s going into rotation with my other ‘Wednesday’ posts.
If you haven’t seen my previous posts, this is basically me seeing which books I’ve read, am interested in, maybe never heard of or aren’t interested in on Goodreads’ Most Popular Horror list. It’s been interesting so far.

Full Throttle

Right now, anything by Joe Hill is an automatic ‘want to read’. I’ve read enough of his stuff to know I really enjoy it, and I think he’s really great especially when it comes to short stories.

I’m incredibly intrigued by this – it was totally off my radar, but I know I followed the author on Twitter/X and have been meaning to read her work for a while (especially Space Opera), but this one grabs my attention instantly. I need to get hold of it somehow.

Huh. Considering how relatively recent this one is, surprised it slipped past. It’s got a solid hook and premise though, and it revolves around the sea, which is a terrifying place and one I love reading horror about, so this one I definitely need to check out.

These gothic ghost novels can be really hit or miss – I think it’s something that’s been done so frequently and often, it’s really hard to read one that isn’t just repeating what’s come before. But that’s not to say newer ones can’t have something to them that makes them feel different, and I’m intrigued by this one.

Oh, give me this now. I think horror that deals with real life atrocities can be incredibly powerful, and this one grabbed my attention instantly. I can’t believe I haven’t come across this – I really need to get reading a lot of these books, but I think this one in particular is one I want sooner rather than later.
If you’ve read any of these or have them on your TBR, I’d love to hear your thoughts – and are there any now you’re interested in?
