Top Ten Tuesday: Bookish Superpowers I Wish I Had

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

This is a fun one! I’ll be sticking to 5 for this week’s Top Ten Tuesday. The full prompt is –

Bookish Superpowers I Wish I Had (e.g. never accidentally buying the same book twice, every book I buy would be automatically signed/personally dedicated by the author, the ability to read faster, etc.)

The Book I Want Is Always in Stock, in the Format I Want

How great would that be? I can’t count the amount of times I’ve gone into a shop looking for a particular book, convinced it must be there (because it’s new/recent, popular, etc) only to find…it’s not, or I’m a few days too late, or a few days too early. But if I could just walk in and pick it up in hardback or paperback, well, life would be easier.

I Remember Every Detail

I am so bad for this, and I’ve tried writing notes and using reading journals and it never quite works. But I am terrible for forgetting smaller details in a book by the time I sit down to write the review, I’m often skimming other reviews to refresh myself on character names even if I remember a lot about the plot!

Freeze Time When Reading

Not for like, ages, but doesn’t it almost feel like time stops when you’re completely hooked on a book anyway? What if it actually did? Just so you had that bit of extra time and could read as much as you wanted without worrying about what time you need to go to sleep or you could stretch your lunch break out to get in that bit of extra reading time.

Always Open a Book to the Exact Page I Want

This would be an incredibly useful power – imagine being able to just open the book wherever you needed in that exact moment, either because you’re about to carry on reading or you remember a perfect quote but not quite the exact wording. It would be incredible.

Always Have Shelf Space

Imagine never ever running out of room for your books? I think what I basically need is a TARDIS bookshelf, one that grows and grows and grows with every new book added. So many problems would be solved!

What do you think? Are there any bookish superpowers you wish you had?
