It finally happened. After reading this graphic novel series for many years, I am now totally caught up with the volumes, left to hope it’s not too long before I have volume 13 on my shelf.
Saga, Volume 12, continues Hazel’s story, as she and her family settle into life (kind of) as part of a circus.
Hazel makes a new friend, while Alana realises Brobot maybe needs more help than she can provide. Meanwhile, outside of our as happy as they can be given the circumstances family bubble, there’s war and drugs and politics. And Alana might actually be considering dating again!
We are 12 volumes into this series and, as far as I can find out, there’s going to be 18 focusing on Hazel growing up. So still a fair way to go. This was a fairly nice volume, giving us a chance to catch up with different characters while things are relatively calm for our little family. There are still people after them, but not as actively as before, and news emerges that’ll have an impact on nearly everyone.
The series isn’t quite as strong post-Marko, but it’s still solid and enjoyable. To be fair, if you’re this far into it, I don’t think anyone is stopping, but if you haven’t yet picked it up, this seems like a really good time to do so while we wait for Volume 13.
