Another look at the Want to Read shelf, and looks like we’re now firmly in vampire territory (though we are still in December 2013!). These are, I think, going to be harder to get rid of than the zombie ones, but we’ll see how it goes. For anyone interested in the numbers, including this one, I’ll have been through 400 books. We’re starting today with what is currently book 176 on my Want to Read, which means I’ve actually managed to get rid of 219 books. Over half! I’m pleased with that, and hopefully it remains fairly high.

176. Mina: The Dracula Story Continues
Marie Kiraly

Genre: Horror / Paranormal Romance
Published: 1st September, 1994
Huh…Mina, of Dracula fame, in a historical paranormal romance where Dracula’s spell might still have a hold over her. Hell yeah, I am in!
Status: Keep
177. The Blood Countess
Andrei Codrescu

Genre: Historical Horror
Published: 1st August, 1995
More 90s horror fiction, this one from…a real-life descendant of Elizabeth Bathory. Okay, I’m super intrigued by this already, and the rest of the blurb doesn’t put me off in the slightest.
Status: Keep
178. Floating Dragon
Peter Straub

Genre: Horror
Published: 1st January, 1982
I have quite a few Straub books on my TBR, and I’m sure I’ll get around to one of them eventually, though this is very unlikely to be at the top of the list.
Status: Gone
179. The Black Prism
Brent Weeks

Genre: Fantasy
Published: 25th August, 2010
This one really doesn’t catch my interest in the slightest, unfortunately.
Status: Gone
180. Great Tales of Terror and the Supernatural
Edited by Phyllis Fraser and Herbert A. Wise

Genre: Horror
Published: 18th October, 1944
I actually have this on a shelf behind me – I’m not even sure when the edition I have was published, as it’s hardback with no sleeve or copyright page. I assume I picked it up at a charity shop somewhere as there’s a pencil £1 inside the cover. But this one is definitely staying – I love books like this, anthologies with classic tales of horror. And it’s always fun coming across stories I’ve read before and reading them again, as well as discovering new ones.
Status: Keep
5 more books and 2 more gone, which isn’t too bad! I’m usually happy if I can get rid of at least one, so I think today was a success. As always, let me know if you’ve read any of these, if you agree or disagree with my choices.
