More from That Dreaded TBR – we’re leaning into horror quite a bit right now, and a quick scan makes me think I’ll struggle to get rid of many out of these. But we’ll have a go!

178. Ghost and Horror Stories of Ambrose Bierce
Ambrose Bierce

Genre: Horror Classics
Published: 1st June, 1964
You can tell I was leaning towards classic shorts at this time, can’t you? Bierce is one of those writers I have come across and enjoyed, and I do think it’s interesting to go back to classic writers and see who they influenced later on. Plus, any chance for more gothic works.

179. Noctuary
Thomas Ligotti

Genre: Horror
Published: 28th February, 1994
Another horror titan, and another I really do need to read more from! I have a few Ligotti books on my TBR, but I think short story collections are usually an excellent way to read more of a particular author.

180. Every House is Haunted
Ian Rogers

Genre: Horror
Published: 15th October, 2012
I’m not familiar with Ian Rogers, but I am curious, and this is another short story collection. It sounds intriguing enough I think I want to give it a go!

181. A Monster Calls
Patrick Ness

Genre: Horror
Published: 5th May, 2011
Now this one, I have heard of, and pretty much all good things. I’m curious and intrigued by it, especially as Ness wrote it based on the conception from Siobhan Down prior to her death.

182. The Rook
Daniel O’Malley

Genre: Urban Fantasy
Published: 11th January, 2012
After reading the blurb, this was a weak maybe, but after dipping into some of the reviews, I was tilted towards no. The premise sounds mildly interesting, but from what reviewers have said, I don’t think I’d quite get along with this one.
Status: Gone
Some interesting books here, and you can see another pattern from when I added these! Didn’t get rid of many today, but did get rid of one, so that’s not too bad!
