While our wonderful LTB co-hosts are taking a well deserved break, I decided now was a good time to catch up on some of the LTB I missed when I was on my own break back in Feb! For these posts in particular, I’m keeping the original February date intact in the posts.

What do you collect besides books?

Prompts: Do you own a lot of books? Do you think of yourself as a book collector? Outside of reading, do you have any other hobbies that involve collecting things? What would you love to have a collection of?
I do own a lot of books. I don’t think of myself as a book collector really – I don’t tend to go in for special editions and such. But I have a lovely little collection of older hardback books that I adore, or some done in a similar style that are more recent. Some of these are Folio Society books. These books include a Complete Works of Shakespeare, Fairy Tales, Hans Christian Anderson, Great Tales of Terror and the Supernatural, and The Oxford Names Companion.
As for collecting things outside of reading, I’m kind of an ad hoc collector. I like trinkets of a sort – badges and pins, I adore bookmarks and have a nice little collection of these. I have a few Funko Pops (really not many at all!), and a few soft toys. I have a great collection of mugs. Across everything, they’re all different and from different fandoms too (where they are from fandoms!). I also have a tendency to pick up stickers, and I have a few small boxes of these in my drawer, ready to stick on anything I like.
If I like a fandom, I usually try to get something from it. I like picking up magnets and pins if I visit somewhere with a gift shop. Notebooks just seem to appear in this house. My soft toys are a mix of usual animals (typically ones you heat up!), Disney and Neopets. Stickers I think I like because you can get them for almost anything, and in quite a wide range. I also sort of collect colouring books, and again these vary from…I don’t like to use the word ‘generic’, but ‘generic’ in the sense they don’t belong to a fandom, to a variety of different franchises I’ve liked over the years.
And because we stan physical media in this house, between me and my partner we have a big collection of DVDs and CDs!
I would love to have a collection of figurines – especially the Disney ornaments I’ve seen in jewellery shops. I used to have a small collection of various ornaments, and though I still have some, many have gone missing or disappeared (or broken!) over the years, and I can’t really justify building the collection again unless I had somewhere to display it. But maybe one day!
