Blogmas Day 4: NetGalley November Update

Well, I gave NetGalley November a go, but I think the timing was just a little wrong for me – I did not manage to read as much I would have liked, and that’s partly because a fair bit of my reading time has been taken up reading Sand, Salt, Blood submissions. Still, I thought I’d do a quick update as part of my Blogmas posts.

NetGalley November TBR

Our Share of Night by Mariana Enríquez, Translated by Megan McDowell

This was the first book on the list because it was one I was midway through. I’d originally wanted to read it in time for Halloween, but the length and other factors meant it took a bit longer! Still, I finished this on November 6th, and it really felt like an achievement! The review is yet to be posted, but it’ll be up on Divination Hollow soon.

Naughty or Nice: A Holiday Regency Anthology

Current Progress: 30%

Hopefully by the time this post goes up I’ll have gotten further along into this book, but I unfortunately didn’t make a huge dent in it this month. This is partly because, like Our Share of Night, it’s a long one, though in this instance it’s because it’s an anthology of novellas. So far I’ve really enjoyed the first two I’ve read, but I did pause between them to try and get other books read as well. Fingers crossed I do finish this by the 25th!

Santa Maybe by Mary Jayne Baker

Status: Read – Review Coming Soon

And we finally hit a book I did manage to read! I adored this one, and found it really enjoyable. The review will be coming soon as part of my Blogmas posts, but in the meantime let me say this was a great one to fully kick-start my Christmas reading.

All I Want for Christmas by Maggie Knox

Status: Read – Review Coming Soon

Yes, another one I managed to finish. I didn’t enjoy this quite as much as Santa Maybe, largely because by the last quarter it really felt like it was dragging, and honestly the hero was annoying me so so much! There’s only so many times a character can storm off page before I lose sympathy for them. Of course there’ll be more thoughts in my review and there were parts of this I enjoyed, but it kind of meant my frustration was worse in a “I know you can do better!” kind of way.

I was aiming to read five and I managed to finish…3! That’s not too bad, I don’t think, but I’ll definitely be doing another NetGalley month, hopefully maybe March time if things have calmed down and I can dedicate more reading time to it, especially when I don’t feel like I need to focus on Christmas books! If you took part in NetGalley November, I’d love to know how you did and what you might do different next time.
