Let’s Talk Bookish is a weekly meme that was originally created and hosted by Rukky @ Eternity Books starting in August 2019, and was then cohosted with Dani @ Literary Lion from May 2020 to March 2022. Book Nook Bits has hosted since April 2022.
A perfect prompt for the season today with Let’s Talk Bookish! I think it’s no secret I love doing these – I often find the questions and prompts are really interesting, and a great way to discuss some of these bookish topics.

Holiday Reading Plans
Prompts: It’s almost the end of 2023! Do you have any plans for the end of the year/the holiday season? What books do you want to read before the end of the year?
I always find this part of the year starts going really fast now. I never ever feel prepared for Christmas itself, why does it feel like even though there are reminders everywhere, Christmas still sneaks up? Anyway, holiday plans, yes! My main plans in general for the rest of this year are basically about spending time with family, and snatching moments of relaxation where I can. I’m hoping to get in a few Christmas movie watches, especially romances, and get a few more of my Christmas books read before ‘the big day’ is upon us.
The main books I want to read before the end of the year are the next couple of challenge books I have, so I can at least mark maybe two or three off that before they end, but mainly it’s as many of the Christmas books that I can get through. I’ve mixed it up a bit more this year too, trying to spread my reading between ones I’ve received on NetGalley this year, ones left over from Christmas’ past, and ones I’ve received and/or purchased outside of NetGalley.
I’m not naming specific titles because if I’m not following the challenges, I’m a complete mood reader. It’s partly why I’ve enjoyed doing the challenges, because they really help me focus in and spread my reading out a bit more, but between challenge books I still pick ones based on whatever I fancy at the time.
As for the challenges, if you’ve seen my challenge update posts you’ll know I’ve been focusing on the Disney and Tarot challenges. I’ve really enjoyed both, but I’m sticking with the Disney challenge for next year, as it has 40 prompts and I think I have a good chance of getting through all of them, if I’m not splitting with a longer challenge like the Tarot one.
For the Disney Reading Challenge, I’m hoping to at least read Pirate’s Prize and The Hollow Places. Both are ebooks and I’m currently getting through these a lot faster than physical. If I can squeeze two more paperbacks in for this challenge, it’ll be Meet the Georgians and A Hunger Like No Other.
For the Tarot Challenge, hopefully I can get to Girl, Goddess, Queen and Gambling on the Duke’s Daughter before the end of December. For paperbacks, ideally it’d be She Who Became the Sun, but it might be too much to fit that one in at this point.
What about you? How is your TBR looking for the rest of this year?
