We’re getting closer to the end! And I may have already joined a handful of challenges for next year, as well as created one of my own, which I will also post about as part of Blogmas! I’ve really enjoyed doing the challenges this year, but the other two challenges I’ve joined (that I’m planning to start in January), are both short ones with no specific year attached, to ease up on myself a bit. I’m hoping The Disney Reading Challenge comes back for next year, as I definitely want to do that one again.

Alice in Wonderland – I don’t see how he can ever finish, if he doesn’t begin – a book you’ve been putting off reading
I finished Under the Dome! It was…a lot of effort to get through that one, but it was the oldest book on my Goodreads Want to Read shelf, and very long, so I’m glad I managed to reach the end.
Peter Pan – Never is an awfully long time – a book by an author you’ve never read before
Garth Marenghi’s Terror Tome was absolutely brilliant – a masterpiece from a visionary, truly. In all seriousness, if you want something that combines horror and comedy in a wonderfully satirical way, check this one out. I highly recommend the audiobook version.

The Parent Trap – Bi-continental relationship – a book featuring a long distance relationship
Fae Away was a decent read – not the best, but it was enjoyable enough, and I think having one character in the fae realm visiting the other via a portal leading to the human realm counts as long distance!
Lilo and Stitch – Stitch; also cute and fluffy – a cute and fluffy romance
The Christmas Swap was definitely cute and fluffy, and a perfect fit for this prompt, not to mention being the ideal time of the year to read it!

Strength – a book with an underdog
I am honestly loving The Supreme Lie – it’s clever, dark, and bleakly funny. Also, there’s actual dogs! Lots of them! Some of which I am very nervous for (because it’s a little too late to be nervous for the rest!).
Wheel of Fortune Reversed – The last book in a series
I took this opportunity to finally read The Ever Cruel Kingdom. It’s good, and I’m so glad I finally picked it up.
Death Reversed – A book featuring the “save the world” trope
For this one, I went for Siege and Storm. I didn’t hugely enjoy Shadow and Bone, and I don’t know if it’s because I’m listening to this on audio or because it is better, but I am very much enjoying this book a lot more than the first one.

Read
The Chariot – a book featuring a courageous character
Yeah, I really loved Perilous Times. Such a great book, a really smart, clever fantasy that feels like an excellent addition to Arthurian retellings.
The Chariot Reversed – A book featuring a team at odds with one another
Marvel’s First Team was a decent read, but not the best Marvel book I’ve picked up. Still, the flaws are relatively minor, and it was fun spending time with these characters.

Next month will be a New Year, and along with my final update of 2023, I’ll be talking about the next Reading Challenges I’ll be tackling. And like mentioned above, I’ll include details of the reading challenge I created in a blog post very soon. Do you enjoy reading challenges? What’s been your favourite? Or are there any in particular you’re looking forward to doing for 2024?
