Do you read anything specific in the fall?

Usually around late September/early October is when I start trying to focus on seasonally books, typically until the end of the year. With Halloween in October, it’s good to have some horror and paranormal books read for Divination Hollow. Although I read horror throughout the year, it’s around this time of the year I really start pushing on it, not just for DHR but for this blog too.

It also feels fitting for October, as we head towards Halloween and the nights get longer and colder. Some horror definitely feels more suited to summer, but most I do enjoy reading around this time of the year. Or anything with a slightly darker or paranormal edge works really well, to be fair.

As we get to the end of October though and definitely once we’re the other side of Halloween, if not a little earlier, I switch over to…Christmas books! Yep, occasionally before we’ve had our spooky holiday I’m thinking of the next one, and largely it’s because I’ve amassed so many Christmas and winter books I really struggle to get through them all during the holiday season. I can read horror and similar any time of the year, but it feels strange reading Christmassy, wintery romances when it’s boiling hot outside.

So yeah, fall/autumn is when I start making a full effort to read specific types of books, and as of this year I’m reading these between challenge books, though I have managed to slip a Christmas book or two onto my challenges, so I have that to look forward to, and there’s a few horror books there too so that fits in as well.
