Last year, Books Are 42 posted the All About Halloween Book Tag, and you can read her answers here. I bookedmarked it for Blogtober, and when I realised I hadn’t done a Book Tag for Blogtober yet this year, thought this would be the perfect one. The tag seems to have been created by CatFairyBooks, but the blog doesn’t exist anymore. As usual, I won’t tag anyone in particular, but feel free to have a go at this if it intrigues you.

All About Halloween Book Tag
What are your favourite Halloween movies?
I love watching kids’ films over Halloween. I love Horror, but something about spooky season makes me want to watch Hocus Pocus, Halloweentown, and of course Halloween – Christmas is time for The Nightmare Before Christmas.
What is your favourite Halloween book?
The Ex Hex. I love that kind of blending of genres, and am especially a fan of witchy romances at the moment. Like I said, as much as I love Horror, Halloween sometimes feels like the time for lighter things! I feel like I don’t often come across books featuring Halloween, either, but maybe I’m not quite looking hard enough.
What other Halloween books would you recommend?
This one is hard, like I mentioned I don’t come across many specifically Halloween books. I think sometimes the witchy books like I mentioned above are good for this time of the year though – my most recent one was Fangs and Frenemies, which I liked well enough. I’m currently reading Under the Dome, and though not specifically a ‘Halloween’ book, there’s something building up there that revolves around Halloween (can’t wait to see what that is!). If you’re looking for horror books to get you in the mood that have a creepy atmosphere, A House with Good Bones. It’s also a good time of year, I think, to dig into Middle Grade horror, and for that I suggest The Graveyard Book, Dread Wood, and City of Ghosts.
Do you own any Halloween ugly sweaters?
I do not! I didn’t even realise that was a thing, but now I want one! I don’t actually own much Halloween clothing, if I’m honest – definitely something I need to try and change!
What are some of your favourite Halloween costumes?
Anything people put their babies and dogs in! Honestly, I love seeing babies and dogs in different costumes, and some of them get really imaginative. For my own costumes, one year I dressed as ‘Red Riding Hood’, but with the implication she was a werewolf hunter, and that was so much fun. And in looking up the picture I realised that’s 10 years ago now…I feel old!

What are you doing for Halloween this year?
It’s a Tuesday, so likely working then maybe some spooky films with the boyfriend. No more going out for Halloween like I used to! Doesn’t appeal to me anymore, but we like our horror so we’ll have a good night.
What is your favourite childhood Halloween memory?
My aunt used to throw parties for us kids, and they were always great – we’d all be dressed up, usually in some form of consume that could be done with a black bag (witch, vampire, one year a devil…), and we’d play games like Murder in the Dark, bob for apples, and eat various Halloween snacks.
Please let me know if you do or have done this tag, as I’d love to read your answers!
