Blogmas Day 9: Christmas Book Blogger Tag

While I work on getting some reviews to post up during this month, I thought it’d be fun to do another Blogmas themed book tag! This one looks like a lot of fun, too – this is one I saw over at Meg’s Magical Musings last year. So let’s dive in, shall we?

What is your favourite Christmas scene in a book?

One of the most memorable Christmas scenes I’ve ever read is when Father Christmas arrives in Narnia in The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. It’s one of those scenes that has always, always stuck with me, ever since I watched and read it as a kid. It really is a “light in the darkness”, hopeful moment for the characters involved, and it’s beautiful in its simplicity.

Do you have any Christmas book traditions?

Not as such – only that I now focus my reading on specifically holiday themed books at this time of year.

Do you prefer to get presents of book vouchers or books?

Books. There’s something lovely about someone picking a book out for you. Unfortunately most of my family have long stopped buying me books! But my partner often gets me one or two, using my wish lists as a guide to make sure he doesn’t get one I’ve already read.

Do you give books as presents?

If I know the person will appreciate it, yes I do! Books can be such a great gift.

What bookish item is on your Christmas wishlist?

I pretty much love anything bookish, whether it’s bookmarks or stationary or a book box with some hot chocolate and snacks in.

What 3 books would you love Santa to have in his sack for you?

This is hard one, partly because there are so many books how can I just choose three? I do have a handful of different wish lists, as it helps me keep tracks of things as well as giving my partner an easy way to get me something. My ‘Bookish Wishes’ is probably the one at the moment that has the books I really would like, and for top three I think I’d go for The Court of Shadows by Victor Dixen, Mortal Follies by Alexis Hall, and The Luminaries by Susan Dennard.

Fake Christmas tree or real Christmas tree?

I really love real Christmas trees and it’s always lovely to see them around but for myself…fake. Fake trees are great, you can reuse them year after year, and they’re a bit less messy!

What’s your favorite thing about Christmas?

Spending time with loved ones. Definitely appreciated that more and more as I’ve got older!

What Christmas book would you recommend?

There’s two, actually, depending on your tastes and what you like to read at this time of the year. Firstly, if you want something a bit darker for those cold winter nights, the anthology A Krampus Carol is excellent. On the lighter side, there’s Season of Wonder, edited by Paula Guran.

What dish on your Christmas menu are you most looking forward to?

The Turkey dinner, always!

When do you open your Christmas presents?

When the family is all up and ready, with breakfast eaten and coffees likely still being drunk, and after my brother has opened his birthday cards and presents.

What’s your favorite Christmas song?

Fairytale of New York, which all things considered I really hope makes it to Christmas number 1 this year.

Are you dreaming of a white Christmas?

Always, but I think the chances of it happening are so, so slim. Still, you never know!
